A Good Evening Out

Made a dinner appointment with Keith ...steamboat dinner at Shaw Tower. Called Gerald as well. It turned out that Keith is a old friend of Geralds' and they were supposed to catch up for dinner as well.! Hahahaha! Small world!

Dinner was great, the company was even better!

On the way to Bugis MRT, saw J.Co - the famous donut shop from Indonesia. It's at Bugis basement! I queued up for 1 hour in KL to buy the donut! Great? No......just ordinary....

Dilemma

Dilemma - a situation in which one must choose between 2 or more course of action. Well, I am in a dilemma..... though I have decided what I wanted to do, somehow I am not totally at ease about it. I guess when one reaches a certain age, there's other concerns to look into.

'Passion' used to be a key word....to be able to do something that one is passionate about. To give up a better paid job for passion! The truth is.....be real! Can Passion put food on the table????? Do people work for passion or to survive?

Travel has played a major part in my life.....to say that I have great passion for Travel is not an overstatement (Hahahahaha!). However, Travel is no longer the same as what it used to be....... airlines work differently; customers' demands are very different from yesteryear.....

Should I take it as a job and continue with it or should I move on?

Gathering

24 May
Made desserts today.....

Dinner with colleagues this evening. Went to the steamboat restaurant at Shaw Tower (Prince Theatre). Quite a number turned up. We had a room to ourselves. Guess what??!!! The power tripped a few times! The reason was that our room cannot support 2 steamboats. We finally survived on 1! The meal was quite good.... the meat balls were FANTASTIC!!!!!

After dinner, it was KTV. I went back to change (why? Well...older folks like me need to look presentable..hahahaha) and brought the desserts with me. Went to Party World at International Building.

They were having a great time..... I enjoyed myself too!

Bejeweled 2

Nowadays, this game keeps me occupied on my way to office. Have this game for quite a while but due to not enough memory in my PDA, I could not play the game. I finally decided to delete some applications and created enough memory to play the game.

25 mins is simply too short to finish 1 game...... hahahahaaha!

Satisfaction

Had lunch with Robin today. Came to fetch me and we went to Seafood Paradise at Singapore Flyer. I have worked with Robin for a long time and we have become good friends.

During lunch, he shared a lot about life. He has gone through a lot and he appreciates and treasures what he has now. He is very involved in a lot of activities outside work but he never fails to catch up with friends.

Certain things he said enlightened me and things that I did not seemed to understand before suddenly became clear. Glad to have caught up lunch with him.

The satisfaction was both physical and mental! Hahahahaha!

Back in Sg

Got back about 12:30am this morning! Left KL about 8:30pm ...and spent 40 mins stucked at 2nd Link!

To continue where I left...... Sunday was an easy day..... spent most of the time in the hotel. Was invited to Red Box at Pavilion for Dennis' birthday gathering. Could not decide what to buy and so ended up with Parkson's gift vouchers!

The meal at Red Box was average. Some other friends came and they had a blast singing! Managed to meet up with Nick Soo and had a good chat with him. Went to the pub to meet up with Gerald and the gang. After the pub, supper and then back to hotel.

Monday was P.H. in KL. Sam came and after checking out, we went to Garden and Mid Valley. Garden is really upmarket.....you could feel the difference shopping at both malls. There's lots of eateries and restaurants.....

Caught a movie at Garden - Speed Racer and felt asleep during the show (too comfortable)! Hahahahaha! The movie was ok....not fantastic.... I thought Narnia was better!

Went back to town to meet up with Gerald and the gang for the ride back to Singapore,. A quick dinner and off we went.....at 140km per hour!

Time To Move On

Chatted with my ex-Boss this morning over coffee. Shared with her about what happened to me the last few weeks and she agreed that I should move on. Well.... I will be ..... We chatted for quite a long while. I have known her for many years and she has always been my advisor. Thank you, CN!

Busy training the new staff on my areas this afternoon. Hope they could absorb most of the stuff. They have to..... I will not be around....

Dinner at The Park Hotel.....to celebrate Wong Birthday! The buffet dinner was average.. comparing it with the brunch I had in Bangkok, it pales greatly! Hahahaha! Still, the company was great! Albert, Gerald, Jerry and Richard were there!

One more day before long weekend!... Not sure if going to KL....cannot get coach ticket......

Birthdays

A few friends' birthdays...

12th of May - I met Mr Chiba in 1983 when he came here with a group of Rotaractors. He was working for a newspaper company. All these years, we have been in touch and making a point to send birthday greetings. In 1987, I had the opportunity to visit him and his family in Aomori. He turned 60, 2 days ago.

JK is a close friend I met in 1992 and though we do not really catch up, we do meet each other at our usual drinking joint. Every year, without fail, he will receive birthday greetings from me.

13th of May - My dear friend from Canada....called him last night (morning over at his end - 12 hours behind us)and chatted for a while. Certainly looking forward to his visit this year...finally!

14th of May - Once a while, I will receive greeting sms from a friend in Malacca. Well, it's his birthday today! He will be hearing from me soon!

15th of May - Many years ago (while I was in the travel industry), I met Alvin (from another agency) in Adelaide for SATEX (South Australia Tourism Exchange). We got along very well and have become very good friends, until today.

15th is also Wong's Birthday. Old friend....known him for quite a while . Would be having dinner with him and friends tomorrow night.

To all my dear friends, Happy Birthday to you!

Bangkok Trip (8 - 12 May)

Back Finally!

Left on 8th on TG to Bangkok. The 2hour flight was quite smooth and immigration/custom was easy. Took a cab to the hotel. The expressway was smooth.....until we came to near Chit Lom Central. The traffic was almost impossible! After about 15 minutes, I decided to get off the cab and walked to the hotel since it was quite near by. The hotel was Centara Grand, next to Central World. Check-in was on the 23rd floor!

After checking in...went to meet the rest of the gang. The HKG and Taiwan families have flown in earlier than me. Pope came to the hotel to meet me and we went over to Siam Paragon to meet the rest. It was really great meeting up with the families again!

Decided to have dinner at Central World and then had ice cream and chat at Wallace & Frankie's room. Early night...

Friday was an easy day. After breakfast, took a cab to Silom to look for the tailor shop for David Soh. Got off at the wrong place and after walking half an hour under the hot sun, I finally found the place! Managed to get the task done and also tailored 2 shirts for myself. Then, to meet the gang at Sala Daeng station and had lunch nearby. Wanted to have lunch at Anna's cafe but it has moved. After lunch, I went with Jack & Joseph to their hotel (Four Seasons) to collect some snacks (牛舌饼). Back to my hotel to meet up with the Asst Director of Sales for a chat.

Dinner was at the food court at Siam Paragon and Bom came to meet us. After dinner, we went to a local joint for drinks.

On Saturday morning, had to go back to the tailor shop to try my shirts. Then, back to the hotel to catch up lunch with Pah and Pobe. Have not seen Pah for a while ...she still looked very good! She would be leaving for NZ next week....famil and TRENZ. Envy her! Went to Moo Moo Paradise for Sukiyaki buffet. Great meal! So good!

Pobe brought me to Siam@Siam Design Hotel and Spa. Very nice hotel.....near to MBK. The interior is very different....no carpet, no paint...lots of metal, wood and cement. Also, very nice swimming pool....unique! 4 star hotel..... can appeal to young and arty, trendy people... not for old folks.... too modern! Hahahahahaha!

Went window shopping at MBK. We walked from Central World to MBK and back! The HKGers and Taiwanese would never do that! Hahahaha!

Was to meet the gang at Secret Garden Thai Restaurant. Managed to locate the restaurant. They enjoyed the food, especially the chocolate cake! Then to a local joint again for some drinks.

Sunday was to meet up with Chartchai (who flew back the night before from Japan). He has arranged for brunch Four Seasons. The brunch is very famous and there were lots of good food - foie gras, tiger prawns, crayfish, beef, lamb, etc...... a wide selection of desserts, free flow of champagne, juices, etc...... great food.....great price! Cost each of us Baht2700!

Some of them went massage at Healthland and some of us went shopping...... met again for dinner at Chartchai's favourite restaurant....opp Suan Lom Night Bazaar. Wallace, Frankie and I went to catch a movie - Ironman.

Departure day today.....breakfast as usual with Wallace and Frankie and then bid goodbye to them... Before I knew it.... I am back in Singapore!

It was great catching up with the families. Managed to meet up with some friends and made new friend. Thanks, everyone!

Next gathering........... China?

Tiring Day

Heard a bang in the middle of the night and when I came out to the living room, I saw mum on the floor. She lost her balance again. It seemed that she occasionally would not be able to control her movement. She was ok.

Managed to get her up and then got the maid to bring her into the room. Could not sleep after that. ...and then it's morning and time to go to work.

Though it was not extremely busy day, I was already very tired when the day ended. Just wanted to come back and rest.

Well...will pack tomorrow. Afternoon flight......

Not Looking Forward...

Few more days to the trip... The families are very excited.... it's been a while since we last met up! While I am happy to meet them, my heart is really not on the trip. I am sure I will have a wonderful time with them, though.

I should go for the trip and then decide what I want to do when I get back.

Got For It, My Friend!

Had a missed call from a ex-colleague in Telco. Called him back and found that he wanted my opinion about a job offer he had - A Business Development job that pays very well (according to my standard). It definitely is way better than what he is doing now. .... the new job may not be easy but as least if you put in effort, you know you would be rewarded! Go for it! Happy for you!

Different Mood

These few days in the office ... my mood has been very different. What my boss said to me a few days ago apparently has left a very big impact in my life. While I go on with the things I have to do, the 'passion' seemed gone.....

Had dinner with a close friend and he actually said something that sort of made sense to me about the whole thing! Though it may not be true but at this point, it's a good excuse!

I seemed to know what I wanted/needed to do but I guess I am asking myself if I should do it. Whatever my action, I know the consequence(s).

My health has not been good lately. Still waking up in the middle of the night with pain. Recently, a couple of times, I seemed to have the whole world spinning around me for a split second. I could feel something is not right in my body........ haiz...what's new ?????!!!!!

At this moment, I just want to get my work done...... so that no one can find fault with me........ .

1st May

This morning, went to Bukit Batok to meet Gerald & Cyrus. Tony came and then we went to pick up Justin. It's JB again!

The traffic was not too bad (according to Justin). The causeway was rather smooth and our 1st stop was brunch! We went to our favourite place (opp Angsana) and had steamed fish, Bak Kut Teh, tofu, vege and braised pig trottle. So much to eat! Then, off to Terbrau City Shopping Mall for some shopping and coffee.

Then, on to Taman Pelangi for foot reflexology. It was so painful! Hahahaha! An hour there and then to Giant...... Guess what, we saw Mega Mac.....wow.....do not have it in Singapore......must have it......and we did! Hahahhahahaha!

Justin has an urge for KFC and we went to Holiday Plaza for him to satisfy that crave! Managed to get a new cover for my old phone...now, looks new!

Justin has invited us to his place in JB for dinner. His mum cooked dinner for us. It was simple fare but delicious!

Came back through 2nd Link.....smooth.....

It was a long day......... tiring but enjoyable!

So Sweet

I was chatting with a friend from Canada through msn a few days ago. We started chatting about 2 years ago. Though we have not met but we have become close friends. Once a while we will chat on the phone and whenever he visited his hometown (HKG) every year end, I would make a point to contact him. During the chat a few days ago, he mentioned that he would seriously consider visiting me this year! Wow! That's good news! He actually said that it is worth his while to come and meet me! He enjoys my friendship and thinks that I am special! Hahahahahaha! So sweet!

Looking forward to meeting you, my friend!
