Long Weekend Coming Up

Finally managed to book the trip to KL.

Originally wanted to fly on JAL since the other budget carriers were not cheap. Then, with the swine virus, perhaps should avoid international carrier. Can avoid, should avoid....new motto....

After going though few websites, finally settled for coach in and flight out....saved 1/3 of the original cost! Not bad!

Looking forward? Hmm.....

25 April

25 April - 3 friends' birthday!

Happy Birthday, Judy! It has a quite a while since we last met. I really miss New Zealand.... and also fijoes! It's the season again!

Happy Birthday, Ming! Hope to meet you again next month! Looking forward to visit Hong Kong again!

Happy Birthday, Jason! Thank you for the BBQ dinner! The food was delicious and the company was great!

Spent the whole day in JB. Gerald came to pick me up and then we proceeded to the causeway. At 10 in the morning, the jam had started to build up. The 1st thing was to get a car wash. Only M$8 and they vacuumed and washed/cleaned the car!

After car wash, we went straight for food - Bak kut Teh! The food was delicious! Must always order the braised pig throttle....yum, yum! After lunch, we went shopping at Pelangi Plaza. Unfortunately the shop that we used to patronised has closed down...gone back to Malacca...

2 more stops before BBQ dinner..... went for food reflex. 2 hours on foot reflex...so relaxing....... so 'shiok'...... did not feel like walking......... final stop at Giant........ grocery! Always enjoy shopping at Giant! There's so much to buy....... cheap!

Then, it's off to Jason's place for BBQ! Had talked about this BBQ for quite a while and decided to do it on his birthday. Ho and friend were there too.... Just when the fire was ready and the meats were placed on it, suddenly we saw the fog..... the ppl were spraying, right during dinner time! We hurriedly moved the food inside until the sky was clear again..... More guests appeared and then it was cake cutting!

The night ended well and then it was time to crossed back to Singapore...before the car turn into something else......

Howdy, Stranger!

What a pleasant surprise!

Got back home as usual and mum gave me a note with a telephone number on it and asked if I knew the number. It was not familiar but I knew the number was from my neighbourhood. Then, my mum told me the White Boy is back. Adrian is back!

Adrian stays a few blocks from me and we have known each other for 30+ years! Adrian is an Albino. He has been living in US for many years. The last time he was back was 2 years ago. He is back this trip to celebrate his father's 80th birthday!

Though we hardly see each other over the years, he would make a point to catch up with me whenever he is back.... in fact, I think I am the only friend he has!

Glad to have caught up with him earlier and hopefully to catch up again before he leaves on Sunday night.

A Good Day...

Got up early this morning...my maid was already up preparing the vegetable dish. The night before, she helped to cook the braised pig throttle. I was busy trying to cook my cheese cake. Soon, everything was ready, meat, veges, rice and dessert!

I have 2 Filipino lady colleagues who love pork and I promised them home cooked meal - prepared by my Muslim maid! Hmm......

When we started our lunch, we thought the food was too much..... well, never underestimate the Filipino ladies! Hahahahaha! Myra had so much! She was saying too full and when I brought out the cheese cake, she had room for it as well!

Gerald sms me for dinner and we met up at Chinatown. Met up with Derrick who drove us to Tanjong Pagar instead to have the famous Bak Kut Teh. We had a feast! Ate so much meat today!

Cannot sleep with a full stomach.... it is going to be a long night......

Office....Work.......

April is the beginning of a new financial year. To date we have not been informed of our sales target. With the recession at the moment, sales have been affected and though we are hoping to have lower target, the management feels otherwise.

Recently, our Director did a presentation on this FY - 09/10 but we did not seem to agree with the stuff that he presented. Nobody would question especially in front of him! Hopefully our manager would summarise and tell us the direction!

Last week, I was told that every staff would get a rim of paper each and we have to monitor our usage. I was shocked! Could you imagine the scenario : I have to slot in the paper at the printer and then go back to print and then come back to collect....and when I do that , no one else could print... and if someone print on my paper, I have to get back the number of copy from him/her! No productivity , no efficiency! Guess what..Management idea! Cost cutting is important...surely not at the expense of productivity and efficiency!

Have been busy lately with work....that's good! So far, I am still meeting the weekly target but not sure for how long ....

There would be changes and life is going to be tough... need to ride through this recession...... will not be easy....... but I WILL SURVIVE!

ROTARACT ALUMNI GATHERING - 18 April 2009

It has been a while since my last entry. The truth is that I wanted to close this and start another blog.. but somehow did not get started...... perhaps I should just stay on this blog....

When I was in my pre-u, I joined the Interact Club for ECA. It was a very interesting chub and I had the opportunity to be sponsored by Rotaract Club of Singapore to attend a ROTARACT Conference in PJ. When I finished my pre-u, I joined the Rotaract Club - The Rotaract Club of Queenstown.

Some greatest moments of my life happened in my years as a Rotaract member (till the year of 28). I had many opportunities to play host to Rotaractors from many parts of the world - Japan (Aomori, Osaka, Kanagawa), Ausralia, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Italy.... I met many friends and even until today... I am still in touch with many of them!

I was the youngest member in the club when I joined. Some of the members were very close to me....but everyone treated me very well. I was pampered by everyone. Though there were younger member who joined later, they did not have the same fortune as me.

It has been almost 17 years I retired from the club. Recently a former club members passed away and many were at the wake. They decided that we should have a get together and find out how each has been keeping.

Last Saturday, we all met up at Regent Hotel for lunch....... after 17 years! It was a wonderful, joyous occasion to meet up with so many members again! Some of them I have not met for more than 20 years! There was just so much to catch up with!

I remember there was this lady, Joo Yean, who joined about the same time as me. We were the youngest (she was 1 year older. We got along very well, like buddies! She got married and went overseas. We lost touch and I had no idea how to get in touch with her. Well, she came to the gathering! It was really amazing to see her again!

During the luncheon session, we had video conference (via skype) to Australia and USA, to chat with members who had migrated there!

Rotaract Club of Queenstown was a FANTASTIC club and the members were like a big family! Though we have all moved on in our lives, the members make a point to keep in touch and especially after this gathering, more members will make a point to contact each other and be a part of each other's life!

we are all looking forward to the many gathering coming up!.
