Seventh Heaven

Had steamboat at our usual place for dinner and then decided to proceed somewhere for desserts. Derrick suggested an ice-cream place and we all agreed. This shop is located at really ulu place..in town! Just behind the railway station, where the old Gan Eng Seng School was.

Seventh Heaven is a small 'cafe', not many tables. As it is mainly in wholesale business, the cafe serves as a place to try the products. There were many types of ice creams.....a lot with liqueur. We even had interesting flavour such as Bandung! We ordered about 7 different flavours and even a warm chocolate 'cake' with vanilla ice cream. The ambiance was cosy and the taste was delicious! We even got to try a special ice cream----with Mexican chili!

Interesting place... can go again...

Eating Weekend

The traffic on Saturday morning was terrible! Having checked the woodlands checkpoint, I was not sure if we should venture in....

Finally decided that we should go ahead and arranged to meet George and Raymond at Kranji MRT at 12 noon. Surprisingly the traffic was a lot better than expected. Immigration clearance from Singapore was swift... as usual, the traffic to the Johore checkpoint was crawling.... only 2 lanes! After clearing the immigration in Johore, off to lunch! Went to the usual Bak Kut Teh place. Bak Kut Teh, Braised pig trotter and special chicken dish.....yum, yum!

Then, off to Tebrau Jusco for some shopping. Walked around the mall, they bought some name stickers, had green tea ice cream, kueh bahulu. iced coffee and then to Pelangi....for our foot reflex / massage. George and I had foot while Raymond had body. After a 60's hair cut for Raymond, we went to Taman Gardens for a seafood feast! George and I had 2 huge glasses of Dragon Fruit juice to wash down the BBQ squids, stingray, fish, vege and prawns! So much food!

The traffic back to Singapore was very smooth. Amazing!

Sunday afternoon was spent travelling around East side of Singapore with Raymond. We went to Katong and had Katong Laksa, Teochew Soon Kueh, mini Durian rolls.. and then to Parkway Parade before ending up at Geylang and had fishhead steamboat for dinner. It was a pretty hot afternoon.....

Darkness

Got a call from my maid when out having dinner. Power failure at home. Panic!

Had to rush home asap.... could not figure out where the power was. Called the usual electrician and he came pretty quickly. Checked through and confirmed that the main power switch has failed. Managed to get it changed and back into lights again!

Glad that I was around....what if I were overseas.......

爱琴海 - 民歌餐厅

Met up with a new friend, Woofie, for dinner at basement of Plaza Singapura. Went to the food court earlier but could not get a seat. Settled for a sausage joint instead.....

Friends always complain that I walk very fast. They should meet Woofie! I could hardly catch up with him! He had to slow down many times to wait for me to catch up! Must be old age......

Went to a Chinese folk song establishment - Music Dreamer Live! Cafe. The singers tonight were quite entertaining. I have not been to one for a very long time! The singers looked at us and mentioned that they welcomed us to submit songs for them to sing. They may not know the songs of the 50's to 70's, but they would try! Do we really look so old??????!!!!!! Well, we submitted a songs of the 90's and they were surprised! Never trust a book by its cover!

This Weekend...

Went for move with a friend on Friday. The movie was BLOOD, THE LAST VAMPIRE. When we were about to go into the theatre, the attendant looked worried and concerned. He reminded me that there was a age restriction for the movie, and requested to check my friend's age. My friend was 26! He was upset! This was the 1st time he got checked! It was so amusing! Not for my friend........

Met some 'old friends' on Saturday. It was a pleasant surprise. Someone I met 2 years' ago and I have been hoping to meet him again and I did! Then, someone I came across many years ago and I briefly passed him by few months back and I actually meet him face to to face! In the evening, I had dinner with a old friend who came from China to Singapore to work. A friend of his came to meet up and to my surprise, it was someone I knew but was never introduced! "Fruitful Saturday'!

A very close friend moving back to JB this weekend to start his new job. Have been meeting up for dinner when he was here. Will really miss him..... wishing him all the best for the new job!

Wow!

A close friend came back from holiday in NZ. Was trying to catch up and talk about beautiful New Zealand.....miss the place very much!

Called LCN today and found out that it's her daughter's birthday! To make it special, she has a special dress for her! It's her dress 40 years ago! She has kept the dress for so many years and wanted to give it to her daughter! It's a beautiful dress that her father bought in Japan and she has kept it for so many years!

I really do not know what to say... it's amazing that she has kept that dress for 40 years! However, I am not sure if the daughter would want that dress....the fashion at that time.......hahahahahahaha!

Last Week

1st week of June was not a good start...business has been extremely slow! Not many phone calls and very few sales! How to survive???!!! The week ended and I only managed to clock half the weekly target! My worst performance so far! Help! If this go on for another 2 weeks, I am really in deep trouble!

Went with Gerald to JB on Saturday. The 1st link was super-jammed and we decided to take the 2nd link, though the toll was more expensive and much further away from town. Still, it was better than getting stuck in the jam!

1st stop was Tampoi for lunch. Went to the popular shop for steamed fish, Bak Kut Teh, and some other dishes. Then, off to Pelangi for foot reflex. Really enjoyed the 2 hours of foot reflex! Called Jason and met up with him and James for dinner. He brought us to a nearby place for fish head steamboat. It was ok....not that fantastic, though. Told Jason that I would bring them to try the Singapore fish head steamboat one day!

After dinner, went to Giant for some last minute shopping, before ended up for satay. The chicken satay were delicious. Normally I would not go for Malay satay. This place was really good. Enjoyed the drink as well - rose syrup with lime! Sedap!

By the way we got back to Singapore, it was past 12 midnight. Another day gone by so quickly....

Birthdays!

Yesterday was Richard's Birthday! Hope you have had a wonderful day!

Today is Nancy's Birthday! In fact, we just had dinner with her! It has been a while since we last gathered together for dinner! Managed to learn that her boyfriend would be busy with a friend's wedding and would not be having dinner with her. Called Terence and Vincent (they were all on leave, except me!) and arranged to meet up for dinner with Nancy!

I have known Nancy for at least 12 years. Nancy and Terence believed in me and worked with me in setting up and running the travel arm at Safe2Travel. During that 3 years, we did well and I owed a lot to them. They made it possible for me. Though we have all moved on, we still make a point to meet up!

Dinner was great and the company was superb!

3D2N Hong Kong Escapade (29 - 31 May)

Before I realise it, I am back!

29 May

Woke up about 4am.. and left my place about 4:45 to the airport to catch the flight (Jetstar) to Hong Kong. Check in was smooth and before 7am, the plane took off as per schedule.

The flight took about 3hours 20 mins and before I could take a proper nap, the plane landed at Hong Kong International Airport. After immigration and custom clearance, a pleasant surprise awaited me! Jack and Joseph, from Taiwan, waited for me at the airport!

It was great meeting them! They arrived before me and decided to wait for me. Together, we took the Airport Express to Kowloon Station and then went on separate ways to our hotel.

Checked in into Prudential Hotel. All guests have to have their temperature checked. The staff put a gadget on my forehead to check my temperature!

The room was pretty good, better than I expected! After dropping my luggage, I headed off to the meeting point to meet Jack, Joseph and Wallace. It was great to meet Wallace again.....been a while. Went to a nearby place for Dim Sum. The spread was rather good and delicious. We were waited for Chartchai to join us but his flight was late and he could not make it to join us. Went over to YMCA Salisbury to meet Chartchai and the room there was quite good (about HK$880).

Afternoon was free at leisure and each has his own program. Jack went to meet his old friend, Joseph and Wallace went to karaoke, Chartchai went to buy DVDs and I went window shopping.

Dinner was at the Korean Restaurant (near my hotel). At dinner place, Frankie joined us and we also have Win who flew in after work from Bangkok. Everyone was together again! We also had Raymond, a good friend of Wallace and Frankie. Dinner was delicious. They ordered a lot of food! The last time we meet together was in May 2008 (Bangkok) and there's simply a lot to catch up! After dinner, we proceeded for desserts!

30 May

Breakfast with Ming at a nearby Teahouse before I have to rush off to meet up with the rest at IFC. Everyone turned up, except Jack and Joseph who waited at the wrong ZARA! We decided to have a snack nearby while waiting for them. We went to a restaurant (Michilen award) - a noodle and wanton restaurant. Before we realised, the snack became lunch! I overheard someone asked the waitress as he sat down, " Do you serve wanton here?"..... really a joke!

Anyway, after lunch, we caught a bus ride to Stanley market. Everyone had the octopus; I had coins! The journey took about 45 mins... and it was a sunny day at Stanley - very crowded. Managed to get a few T-shirts there.

Back at Central, Chartchai and Win went to collect some stuff they ordered, Jack , Joseph, Wallace and Frankie went to more brand shopping while I went back to Hotel to freshen up.

Dinner was over at Hong Kong Island, near the Central Escalator - Kumatei : Japanese Restaurant. Again, there were lots of food to eat! The BBQ beef was simply superb! After dinner, we continued with drinks over at Kowloon side before we called it a night.

31 May

Finally managed to have my wanton noodle at the famous 龙记招牌云吞shop. The wanton noodle I had the day before was a disappointment... glad that I managed to eat on my last day in Hong Kong!

Then, off to sham shui Po with Ming for a short visit. On a Sunday morning, there were many people setting up stores on the road. It's a place where there's lot of 2nd hand and also electronic/electrical stuff. It was very interesting.

Met up with everyone again for dim sum lunch. Andy, friend of Win, Wallace and Frankie came to join us. Lots to eat again!

After lunch, Win and Chartchai went off to shop at the factory outlets (near the airport) while the rest of us walked around the Harbour City. Joseph and I sat down for tea at Marco Polo Hong Kong Hotel and later Frankie and Jack joined us.

Jack and Joseph invited me to join them in their cab ride to the airport, instead of going on my own. Save me money! The trip to the airport was about HK$200. Actually, it worth it if you have 3 -4 people.

My check in was at Terminal 2 while they had to check in at Terminal 1. We managed to meet up again inside the terminal. Jack contacted me and I went over to join them at the airline lounge. Jack signed me in. Had beef noodle and juices, before I rushed back to my terminal to do some last minute shopping before boarding my flight back to Singapore.

Arrived 5 mins before midnight.

Though the trip was rather short but the purpose was to catch up and we did that. I am happy that everyone made an effort. Without that, the trip would not have been possible. I have known everyone for at least 5 years, and I am glad to be part of this 'family'!
